Parking Reimbursement is on its way!
Dear MEA Members,
In response to your concerns, MEA staff have been working with the City for the last few months, urging them to develop a process to reimburse employees for paid parking that has gone unused while working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Good News! The diligent efforts of MEA staff have paid off and a parking reimbursement process is on its way. Keep an eye out for the email from the City in your inbox.
- Who is eligible for parking reimbursement? If you have a parking pass for the Evan Jones Parkade, Civic Center Plaza garage, or Horton Plaza, you will be reimbursed for each pay period when the parking pass was used less than three times during that pay period.
- What timeframe is being reimbursed? March 23, 2020 – May 14, 2021
- How do I request a reimbursement? In the next day or so, the City will be sending an email with more information and how to access the reimbursement request form. Watch for it and return the completed form by Friday, May 28.
- Does this stop parking fees from being deducted from my paycheck? You can request to have your automatic payroll deduction suspended and keep your parking spot until you are ready to resume regular usage of the parking facilities downtown. Please know that it will be your responsibility to reactivate your card should you need to use it or if you’re returning to the office.
