Important Prop B “Make Whole” Information – VIDEOS!
As previously announced, MEA and the City have reached an agreement that guides how affected active Prop B employees (initially hired by the City between July 19, 2012 and July 10, 2021) will have the opportunity to participate in the “make whole” remedy ordered by the Courts last year. The remedy includes the opportunity to be placed into the City’s defined benefit pension system (SDCERS) for all years worked in an eligible standard hours position just as if Prop B had never happened.
MEA has been fielding questions from members about this process over the last several months. As a result, we have produced five informational videos that cover many of those questions about the make whole process. The videos also provide (hopefully!) valuable information about the choice Prop B employees need to make before June 30 related to entering the pension system.
Each video is about 5 minutes long (about 25 minutes total). As noted, these videos only apply to active employees initially hired by the City between July 19, 2012 and July 10, 2021. All others are welcomed (and encouraged!) to watch if you are interested, but the discussion and action required of employees only applies to people initially hired during that Prop B window.
We hope these videos are helpful. As always, don’t hesitate to reach out to MEA for further information or questions on this or any other subject!
